Tribal Belly Dancing Background
Tribal Belly Dancing is evolving into an exciting and powerful feminine strength throughout the world. It is an art form through universal language of movement, weaving elements of the ritual and folkloric dances of the Middle East, Northern Africa, India, Spain, Egyptian folkloric and Turkish.
Tribal Belly Dance is a mix of mystical, enchanting, colourful, hypnotic and strong forms of group improvisation, using swirling veils, finger cymbals, sometimes balancing swords and canes, into slow and sometime fast strong movements using a clearly defined group of moves and cues with a confident and upright, open posture.
Costuming includes a rich tapestry of ethnic jewellery, natural fibered cloth and decorations such as mirrors, with earth-tones and jewel-tones plus generally some type of head-dressing, trousers under a tiered skirt or just trousers, a choli and/or ethnic coin bra are worn. Accompanying styles include body piercing, colourful dreadlocks and henna tattooing.
